🎯 Goal: Personal Growth

⏰ Time: 25 minutes

⚠️ Difficulty: 3 (Moderate)

Summary:

Reflecting on the past is a powerful way to integrate what you’ve learned and prepare yourself for future success.

A reflection letter is more than a journal entry. It’s an actual letter to your past self. Knowing what you know now, what would you tell yourself from 12 months ago?

Reflections letters are also a way to show yourself compassion. Of course things didn’t go perfectly to plan. How could they? Most important is that your past self tried their best.

Thank them for getting you to where you are today.

Instructions:

  1. Think Back 12 Months. Write a letter to your past self.
  2. Share the Details. Tell your past self the good, bad, and ugly of what happened in the past year.
  3. Be Kind. Show your past self compassion. They did their best given what they knew.
  4. Re-Write Regularly. Write a reflection letter at least once per year. You can also do this exercise at the start of a major project.
