🎯 Goal: Strategic Thinking
⏰ Time: 30 minutes
⚠️ Difficulty: 3 (Moderate)
Instructions:
Paint yourself a picture of success.
Researchers have discovered we’re more likely to reach our goals when we can imagine us doing so.
Visualization isn’t just a motivator, but an important tool in anticipating and overcoming obstacles in our path.
Instructions:
- Fast Forward. Imagine yourself 3, 6, or 12 months from now (or imagine yourself at the end of a major project). In this time period, you were wildly successful.
- Vividly Describe Your Success. What do you see, hear, and FEEL at this moment? Who is around you? What are you doing? What happens now? Be as detailed as possible.
- Imagine the Journey. Now describe the journey you took to reach this success. Imagine every obstacle you came across and how you overcame it. Imagine who helped you along the way.
- Give Yourself Advice. What are the most important things to remember to help you reach this goal?
- Re-Write Regularly. Conduct a vision story at least once per year. You can also do this exercise at the start of a major project.
